Yoga for New York was founded in June 2009 by a group of yoga teacher trainers, yoga teachers and yogis determined to minimize government intervention in yoga teacher training. Hundreds of yoga lovers across the state have become involved in one way or another.

We have organized to make sure that the state's actions do not harm the teaching of yoga. Yoga for New York was created to represent all students, teachers, teacher trainings and studios.

We have waged an amazingly successful battle to stave off licensing with the help of Senator Eric Schneiderman and Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal, whose bills will exempt Yoga teacher training from licensing.
